About Me
Hi, my name is Dani, and I am a book-obsessed homeschooling mom. I have homeschooled my children for a total of 10+ years, and still going strong after a small stint in public school. Literacy is my jam. The USA — where I live — is in the middle of a literacy crisis. Statistics show that only 21% of U.S. adults are functionally illiterate (NU Editorial, 2026). This translates to roughly 43 million people possess low English literacy reading skills and are reading at below a sixth-grade reading level.
With the jump in short-form video content, and increased amount of low attention spans, the study also shows that 44% of U.S. adults haven’t read a book in the last year.
I want to be the change in this. I want to help guide families and students on their journey to reading and writing at a higher level. I want to increase reading and writing confidence in students and in adults, and make it fun and engaging. There are enough boring things children have to learn how to do, but reading and expressing themselves through writing or learning how writing makes life more productive and — honestly easier — is my passion.
Teaching students to write is one of my favorite things to do. Helping them bring their ideas and stories to life makes my heart happy.
“Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life, is essential to development and health, and opens the way for democratic participation and active citizenship.”—
